David A. Young
David A. Young is an experienced trial lawyer focusing on complex employment litigation and discrimination matters. Mr. Young has been certified by the Ohio State Bar Association as a specialist in the area of Labor and Employment Law. This certification makes him one of a small group of attorneys in Ohio to have earned this distinction. In a survey of his peers and opposing counsel, Mr. Young has been rated as “Preeminent” by the Martindale-Hubbell Lawyer Rating Service – the highest rating a lawyer can achieve.
Mr. Young holds a law degree with high honors and distinction from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law. During law school, Mr. Young served on the Board of Editors for the Cleveland-Marshall Law Review. Also during law school, Mr. Young was honored with the Spangenberg Award for Excellence in Trial Advocacy.
Mr. Young is a Dean's list graduate of Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Mr. Young is admitted to practice in all common pleas courts and courts of appeal throughout the State of Ohio. He is also admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio.
Mr. Young is a member of the Cleveland, Portage County, Ohio State and American Bar associations. He is also a member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, Ohio Academy of Trial Lawyers, National Employment Lawyers Association, Cleveland Employment Lawyers Association, the Ohio Employment Lawyers Association, and was recently nominated as a 'barrister' in the Cleveland Employment Inns of Court.
In 2008, Mr. Young received the honor of inclusion in Super Lawyers Magazine's list as a Rising Star in the Labor and Employment field. In 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013, Mr. Young was further honored by his selection as a "Super Lawyer" — a designation reserved for only five percent of the lawyers in the State of Ohio. Bryan Kresak is a Paralegal and assists the Firm’s clients in nearly every aspect of litigation. Mr. Kresak is one of only 147 paralegals throughout the State of Ohio designated as a Certified Paralegal by the Ohio State Bar Association. Mr. Kresak received a Degree in Business with a focus on legal studies from the Academy of Court Reporting in Cleveland, Ohio. Mr. Kresak has over 12 years of experience as a paralegal all of which have been dedicated to employment and civil rights law. Mr. Kresak is highly knowledgeable regarding the procedures of the Common Pleas and District courts throughout the State of Ohio. Mr. Kresak is a Registered Notary in the State of Ohio. Mr. Kresak is a well-respected member of the legal community, currently serving on the Paralegal Advisory Board for the Stautzenberger College located in Strongsville, Ohio.
Kelly Sumey is a Paralegal for Attorney David A. Young. In 2012, Ms. Sumey was designated as a Certified Paralegal by the Ohio State Bar Association and became one of only 196 certified paralegals in the State of Ohio. Ms. Sumey has obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Management from Malone University, which provides her with comprehensive knowledge of functioning Human Resource Departments within corporations. In addition, Ms. Sumey has received an Associate’s Degree in Business with a thorough concentration in legal assisting/paralegal studies from Stark State College in Canton, Ohio. Ms. Sumey previously worked with the Fifth District Court of Appeals for the State of Ohio. Ms. Sumey has worked for litigation firms for many years and has put her entire focus over the last five years on employment litigation matters. She also has experience working on cases in the majority of Northeastern Ohio’s Common Pleas Courts. She is a registered Notary Public in the State of Ohio as well as an active member of the Ohio State Bar Association.
